Shantay Mines
Marriage/Family Therapist
My name is Shawn Mines. I am a psychotherapist with years of experience and expertise in mental health. I work with individuals, couples, and families in a down-to-earth, solution focused manner. I believe that the difficulties you are experiencing in your life can be changed with therapy. I understand how difficult it is sometimes to consider therapy and I am glad you are here!
I work with different social, emotional, and behavioral adjustment difficulties like anxiety, depression, crisis, trauma, couples counseling, conflict resolution, military-to-civilian life and family issues, among others. I am solution-focused and brief in my approach, which means that I will be working with you from day one to give you tools that you can immediately use. I will collaborate with you in order to ensure that everything I do is in your best interest.
It is always my goal to create a safe, accepting, and comfortable environment, which is conducive to allow you to grow in self-awareness and self-acceptance. I use various therapeutic approaches with my clients, depending on which is best for them.
In addition to my private practice, I work for the federal government providing readjustment counseling for combat veterans and their families, I teach continuing education courses around the country to mental health professionals as a subject matter expert, have published research in academic journals, given academic lectures around the world, and currently serve as a reviewer for an academic psychology journal.
